Hello fellow B-King riders!!! Could you please advise?

I am looking to put new tires on my bike, I am having a rough time finding anything other than the Dunlops that come in the 200 back. I read that you can put a 190/50/17 on the back which greatly increases the number of models available for the bike. Have any of you put a 190 on the back and if so, how does it look and perform on the road? I'd rather have a 200 back because I like the bigger size. Please advise me on what tires you guys like and have tried. I would appreciate any help on this decision, I was thinking of going back with the dunlops, but they wear so quickly. They actually created a first for me, the front tire wore faster than the back, which I have never had happen on any bike I have ever owned. Weird!! My appreciation in advance...thanks!!

I also liked the 200 tyre as I like to keep std specs. I used about 4 Dunlop qualifiers and the rest Michelins. I must say I found the Dunlop's just feel more secure on high speeds.  However, my last tyre I fitted was a Shinko Verge front.  Looks good and I found nothing wrong with it. I then bought the rear as well but have not fitted yet.  Shinko has several model tyres in 200.  Check it out.  I thought the Verge is the best in durability/performance/price/looks/value.

i have the shinko 200 on the back of mine , done about 1500 km's on it , i have no complaints

but then again , i doo ride like a gurrrl

If your bike is not lowered, you can also use the 200/55. For that size Metzeler M7 are available, front and rear.
You could also consider a -1 front or +2 rear sprocket or both.

Te standard was 200/50 right? Will that 200/55 fit into the rear hugger arch?

I know people using it. The problem is not the hugger but the rear license plate frame.
If the bike is lowered the tire touches it, even the stock 200/50.

My bike's height is standard and I use the stock mudflap - hopefully that will be okay, because I would really get these M7s after I tear the M5 I have now (really happy I got them!).

I use the Pirelli Diablo Corsas 195/55/17....would put not use anything else as superb grip, quick warm ups...not the best mileage on the market...about 3-4k on the rear but I prefer grip than wear! No chicken strips on my tires!! :-) defiantly quicker turn in than the 200/50s :-)

Ask about tires and you will get a bunch of info that may or may not work for you. you want to pick the right tire for the way you ride. If you put 40000 mile's a year on a bike than you better go with what last the longest. If you hit the twisty than you want a tire that heats up fast and give's good grip. If you drag race a'lot than you want a tire that will give the best out of the hole traction. So what kind of riding is for you.

I drag race and run long distance and hit the twisty's but i only put around 10000 mile's a year on my bike so i don't go with a hard long lasting tire. on my vmax i found that a shinko gave so much out of the hole traction it was hard to brake torque. Thats good for drag racing but shinko is not the best for twisty's but it's not bad in twisty's. i have been reading a'lot about dunlop Q3 and it sound's like it's the best twisty tire but has a little higher price tag. And i'm not sure how good it will perform at the drag strip so at this time i am thinking shinko but i dont know if i want a 005 or a 003 or 011 or 009. I have a little more time to keep digging and if i new the Q3 would have as good traction as a shinko at the drag strip i might go that way. But what about cost? APPLES TO APPLES it's looking like the 003 shinko but it don't have any open tread to help with water if i did get cough't in the rain. hope this help's good luck.

Shinko looks to be about $100 less than dunlop for a set.

Unless you are a licensed racer or hit the race track all the time, you will hardly be able to tell the difference between the 190 and the 200 series. AND If you are a licensed racer or hit the track all the time then why are you asking for advice here? You should already know what you want!!! Just kidding.
The 190 is available from more manufacturers and is usually a few bucks cheaper. The 190 is a little easier to turn with than the 200. I've always ran the 190 since the original stock tire was removed. When you put new tires on it's gonna feel like a brand new bike anyway.

I have changed my Busa (190/50) and my King (200/50) both to 190/55's.
I think they suit the bikes how I ride and the feel I like.
Would have changed my GSX1400 to a 190/55 too from its 190/50 except I'm running a 30mm jack up on the rear.

Not sure why the King ever had a 200 when the Busa had a 190 on the same rim.
Maybe it was just like the exhaust and tank pods as a bigger image.

After almost 8 years of ownership and many tyres its a 190/55 every time for me.

I do like the S20's but they don't have a great life span.

Hey thank you gentlemen for the ideas!! I have narrowed my choices to 3, the Metzler M7, Dunlop Q3 and the Shinko Verge. I am not a perfessional rider by any stretch, but I do like to speed excessively in strait lines and curves!!! I have owned Metzlers and Dunlops, never had Shinkos. I do not do track days, and very rarely drag. I mostly ride mountain back roads near and outside of Seattle. I would really like a tire that would last @ 5-6000 miles be good in the rain and give me track like performance. I do not care much about the price, so 2nd question to you all... Which of these 3 do you think would serve my purposes best?

The Michelin Pilot Road 4...... wait that wasn't on the list??? The Dunlop then

I'm going with the M-7 in a few weeks....

my Dunlops break loose fairly easy, although they are Qualifier 2 and the 3's are apperantly better...

I've only had success with Metzelers on my old bike and anything that was designed with the Isle of Man in mind is going to be awesome......right? And yes I fall for every marketing ploy out there.....

I'll let you know in a year or so how the M-7's are....

I went with a 200-55 , still wide but better handling...

I am currently using a Bridgestone T30-GT spec. size 190-55-R17

have about 10K miles on it, I am about to change it out after my memorial weekend 3K ride. It should last thru that.

I used the gear calculator and determined that I would prefer the benefit of lower engine speed ( consider that is the cheap speedo healer, LOL )

I do like that way it makes the bike handle compares to the 200/50/R17

and it cost about $160 ish a rear is a good deal compare to the 200 series tires.

Are you saying the bike has done 10k miles or referring to the tyre having done 10k miles.

If it's the tyre, how are you managing to make any tyre last 10k miles on a B King ?

I'm lucky to get 3k miles out of any rear tyre on mine !!

I had my 3K tyre life span, that was a lot of fun and a lot of tickets from the police... lol

but I would like to keep my B King for a long time and away from needing to repair, so i have been riding it softly ( safely )

I am referring to the tyre to have 10K mile
the bike currently has about 40K miles on odo.

May able to help you understanding how I care/ride this.
my OEM chain lasted 36K miles
I am still on the OEM front and back sprocket.
