NTM 2008 B-King

I was looking to fill a hole in the stable between my Triumph Tiger 800XC and Goldwing 1500.  I had never heard of the B-king until I asked for suggestions from one of my meet up groups.  Once I heard about it, I went on a hunt.  Found a 2008 with 487 miles on it!  Guy bought his dream bike, changed the oil at 350 miles, rode another 125 miles and had to have a back surgery and the doc told him no more two-wheelers.

So, she's now in my garage.  Only had a chance to put about 50 miles on it so far, but that will change this week end.

My other bikes have windshields, will I need it for this one?  Gonna need some bigger grips-will try grip puppies to start. May need some risers for the bars, but will wait on that for now.

Can anyone point me to a thread(s) on getting power the easy way to the bars for my GPS?

Finally, haven't tried the search yet, but is there a pdf workshop manual available? (found this!)

Welcome and congrats on the King! For my GPS I just took the left tank pod off and ran my wire along the frame to the battery.

Welcome to the forum. Think I saw your bike on EBay. Great find at 487 miles. I found mine similarly last year with 600 miles. Not anymore. Enjoy!

Welcome and congratulations! Epic performance for the price of a dull commuter bike. As far as windshields go I would advise riding it as is to see what you think, its surprisingly comfortable. That being said I ended up with a national cycle v-stream shield. Makes extended high speed running more comfortable but you get more wind noise. Either way you're gonna love it.

Is there a video or step by step instructions on removing the side pods with the turn signals ignition cover, etc. I found the 2 plastic rivets and bolt on the side pod, removed the 2 bolts on the ignition cover and neither one of them move an iota- must be something I can't see or find. did fish the wires for gps and battery tender and put the rear spools on yesterday, so it wasn't a total waste. Going a a first ride today-only 100miles-tomorrow a 250 miler. I did roll the handle bar up a tad-it was rolled back so far that my fingers would get pinched at full lock.

Oh yeah, the manual say you can cover the key slot by twisting the cover?? it'll turn 10-15° clockwise, but i can't see it cover anything.

If you do a search, I think you will find both. A shop manual via PDF is available telling what panels and in what order of removal. And I believe somebody also has posted with pics a how to as well. Yea the pods are a little tricky until you have done them a time or two. The pods, when all plastic rivets and screws are removed, needs to come off moving towards the front of the bike to be detached. The plastic cover surrounding the key slot does turn 10-15 degrees and then straight out to remove if that is your question. It can be done usually by hand by just pushing down on it and turning to release.

I finally found the right area in the manual about turning the cover and about sliding the pod forward. thanks
